123D Creature App & FREE Lesson Plan Printable

Early this summer I found a newly released 3D art app called 123D Creature created by autodesk.  Having taught autoCAD for one year I felt this was worth a download and review for possible use in my sculpture unit.
This is the best 3D art app I have found for art education!

I quickly added this to my iPads in artrooms class for MN art teachers at The Perpich Center, and created this lesson plan which you can download for your own classroom:
Easy to use.  Great tools.
Logical, real-life sculpture sequence.
123D Creature is a creative design App for iPad that lets you build, sculpt, paint and 3D print amazing original 3D characters.

***
When working in Creature you begin with an armature like form, creating the base of what your creature will look like.  You then "bake" the form and a layer of  Sculpey like medium is applied.
This layers is malleable like real clay and young artists can really get the feel for relief and additive methods. Next comes a layer of paint and with it a professional quality "virtual' airbrush.  Finally, students are able to light their work and render it for final display in Autodesk's online gallery or you can share it as a .jpeg via social media or email. If your school is lucky enough you can even use a 3D printer to print you creature...

Get this app onto your iPads and in the hands of your students and watch them as the create 3D models that reinforce the STEAM movement in education FOR FREE!
Stay creative my friends!
